New mums will often have to deal with uncalled-for feedback or outright criticism, and it's even trickier when you're getting to grips with parenting in the public eye. As fans will no doubt know, TV personality and presenter Scarlett Moffatt gave birth to her adorable son Jude Xavier Dobinson back in June, and has been keeping Instagram followers updated with plenty of sweet snaps from family life.
Although she's received tonnes of well-wishes, the 32-year-old former Gogglebox star has also had to deal with a fair few frustrating comments, with mum-shaming trolls coming out of the woodwork to slam her baby's footwear. Last month, Scarlett shared some lovely photos for a family party and could be seen beaming from ear to ear as she celebrated with her nearest and dearest.
In the caption, she wrote: "How do I have a two-month-old baby already!? Spending the whole weekend with my family for my Nanny's 70th. We played bingo, did quizzes, ate burnt sausages from the BBQ it was perfectly imperfect. We've all laughed from start to finish & Jude even went in a pool for the first time."
Unfortunately, a number of followers became more preoccupied with what Jude had on his feet than how much fun the family was having, with one person commenting: "Beautiful picture but please don't put soft shoes on a two-month-old baby. At that age they should only be wearing socks or babygro." Another remarked: "Why do people feel the need to put shoes on a baby that young? We are forced to wear shoes for the rest of our lives from a certain age why make them wear them now let their toes be free."
Hitting back at the trolls, Scarlett replied: "Thanks for all the lovely comments- also these are the Nike soft bottom crib shoes they're not trainers." A number of fans applauded her for sticking up for herself, with one person cheering: "Beautiful! I can't imagine how frustrating it is to have to explain or justify what you choose to dress your baby in." Another agreed: "Scarlett, do not sit there and b***** well explain yourself, he's your son, not theirs you're doing an amazing job, he's perfect!"

This comes after Scarlett spoke candidly about her changing relationship with her body during an episode of Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, revealing: "I literally see my body as a different entity now, like even now, honestly, because a lot of my friends were saying, you know, it can feel quite hard after you've had a baby because your body changes so much. And I think listening to your podcast and watching a lot of sort of motivational women talking about sort of bodies after you've given birth. Like, I've got a lot of stretch marks on my tummy.
"Honestly, I actually love them. I never thought I'd say that. Like I look at them and I just think it sort of looks like the inside of a tree. Yeah, I feel like Mother Nature, like, this is so amazing. And before, like even sometimes, like out of the bath I'd like run past the mirror if I was getting out the bath. And I'd be like, Oh, whereas now I feel like I look at my body naked a lot more than have I ever looked at it before. I'm like, these boobies feed Jude. It's just so amazing and I wish, actually, I'd appreciated my body a lot more before."
Scarlett has previously opened up about her self-love journey in a relatable Instagram post, sharing a snap of herself sporting a natural look while applying fake tan. In the caption of the post, she wrote: "What type of body can have body confidence... ANY!! I've learnt to not cringe at myself in the mirror when I think I look nice now. I'm giving myself compliments today. Especially on my tan."
