Sam Thompson has admitted that his Strictly Come Dancing star girlfriend, Zara McDermott, is a 'terrible dancer.' He made the bold statement based off the former Love Island star's TikTok performances.
However, Sam clarified that her inability to dance makes her the 'perfect' participant on the BBC show, as 'you want to see the journey' as opposed to a performer who is 'already made.'
Zara, 26, is currently paired up with Italian heartthrob Graziano Di Prima on the fan-favourite show. The duo danced the quickstep during Saturday night's broadcast and were saved to perform for another week.
But speaking at the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards on Sunday, 31-year-old Sam said: "She's perfect to the viewer because she is a terrible dancer. This is the whole point of Strictly, you get people from different backgrounds who can't dance. This is the whole point of Strictly, you get people from different backgrounds who can’t dance. You want to see the journey. I don’t want to see someone who’s ready-made, because what’s the point in that? I’ll go and see a show instead."
It comes after Les Dennis and partner Nancy Xu were the first couple to be axed from the programme last week. They landed in the bottom alongside Nikita Kanda and Gorka Márquez with the two pairs forced to compete in a dance off.
TOWIE's Chloe Brockett makes cheeky dig at Saffron Lempriere during filmingFollowing their efforts, judge Craig Revel Horwood said: "The couple I would like to save and who I think danced the best on the night and was the most improved is Nikita and Gorka."
Motsi Mabuse seconded this, saying: "Both couples danced better in the dance off. One couple was extremely better in the dance off. I will save Nikita and Gorka."
Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas were also in agreement, with Anton saying: "I thought it was a competition of two couples on performance alone and who could really nail their performance. I think the couple who did the best job were Nikita and Gorka."
Shirley agreed and said she would have decided to save Nikita and Gorka if they hadn't already won the majority of the vote. After the decision Les told Tess Daly: "I've had the best time, this lady has been amazing, a great teacher, she's really put me through my paces. I did as well as I could for you, I hope!
"That lot up there, I'm going to miss you so much. I really appreciate and understand the judge's point of view, thank you so much [to Shirley] for giving me a 10 for entertainment. I hope I've entertained, that's what I came here for. Strictly is the best and the people who put this on, you're just all amazing!"
Following his exit, one fan of Les shared on X, formerly Twitter : "@LesDennis I am sorry to see you leave the dance floor in this evening's Strictly Come Dancing results show Les. I had cast a vote for you, but it just wasn't enough to keep you in the competition."
Another added: "The second Saturday week Strictly come Dancing and I really enjoying seeing comedian Les Dennis getting Zamba dance moves with Nancy."
