Britain's most notorious prisoner Charles Bronson has been seen in grim footage dancing naked before fighting with fifteen riot guards.

During the shocking footage, Bronson is seen dancing and bouncing up and down in front of the guards, who gradually line up before slowing edging forward.

Bronson, now 70, is then knocked to the floor as guards fire what appear to be tear gas directly at him.

The unsettling footage is part of Channel 4's new documentary 'Bronson: Fit to be Freed?' which has an interview with Bronons and is now available on the On-Demand app.

Bronson is set for a parole hearing in March.

In his book released in 2000, Bronson, who calls himself Charles Salvador after painter Salvador Dali, said he is a "nice guy."

He wrote: "I'm a nice guy, but sometimes I lose all my senses and become nasty. That doesn't make me evil, just confused."

Ahead of the hearing, Bronson said: "I’ve got a horrible, nasty, vicious, violent past, I’ve never killed anyone, I’ve never harmed a woman, never harmed a child. I’m focused, I’m settled, I can actually smell and taste freedom like I’ve never, ever done in my life."

The footage, meanwhile, is dubbed by the well-known piece Zadok the Priest by George Friederich Handel, originally written for the coronation of King George II.

In an interview, Bronson talks about a fellow prisoner "screaming like a castrated pig" when he hit them repeatedly with a bucket, as well as his kidnap of the prison art teacher Phil Danielson.

Danielson was diagnosed with PTSD and acute anxiety disorder after the event.

"The damage that was caused by him has moulded my whole life since 1999 - 23 years nearly," Danielson said and Bronson has admitted that he "went over the top."

Convicted of armed robbery in 1974, Luton man Bronson was slapped with a seven-year sentence and sent to HMP Liverpool.

During his time in bars, he has taken part in 10 sieges, caused around £500,000 in damage and attacked at least 20 prison officers.

The documentary looks at Bronson's life behind bars at HMP Parkhurst in the 1970s and his later life in HMP Wandsworth.

It was in Parkhurst the infamous criminal met the likes of the Kray twins and the masterminds of the Great Train Robbery in 1963.

He also had a stint in Broadgreen Hospital during the 1980s after he was sectioned under the Mental Health Act following an attempt to take his own life.

The inmate was briefly released in November 1992, but then jailed again after just 53 days, this time for intent to commit robbery.

He was finally given a life sentence in 1999 after the kidnap of Danielson, whom he held hostage for two days when the teacher criticised one of his paintings.

Bronson has been married to three people and last married Paula Williamson on Valentine's Day in 2017, though she sadly died two years later.

The notorious inmate shares a son with his first wife Irene, whom he married in 1971.

After their divorce in 1976, it wasn't until 2001 that he married Saira Rehman, though they divorced four years later.
