Tupac's stepbrother spoke about the latest developments in the murder case

Tupac's stepbrother has spoken out about the latest breakthrough in the death of the rapper 27 years ago after gangster Keefe D was arrested on Friday.

The arrest comes months after police in Las Vegas raided a home connected to 60-year-old Keefe D - who was once the Compton Crip gang leader.

Now Mopreme Shakur has called the arrest and development "bittersweet". Speaking to CNN, he described the pain the family had gone through in the years prior to the arrest.

He said: "We have been through decades of pain," he said. "They have known about this guy, who been running his mouth, for years."

"So why now? For us, this is not over. We want to know why, and if there were any accomplices,"

It's thought that Keefe D - real name Duane Davis - had been on the investigators' radar for a number of years before he was arrested.

On September 7, 1996, Tupac was in a BMW car that was driven by Marion "Suge" Knight, the founder of Death Row Records which was the record label Tupac was signed to. While the vehicle was at a standstill at a red light near the Las Vegas strip, a white Cadillac drove up next to the car and fired into the car.

Tupac was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries a week later. The iconic rapper aged just 25 when he died.

It wasn't until 2018 that Davis publicly confirmed he was inside the Cadillac at the time of the incident. Following a cancer diagnosis, he spoke to BET and implicated his nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson as the shooter. Davis also said Tupac was shot after a brawl broke out in a casino between him, Anderson, Davis, and others.

Anderson issued a denial of any involvement but couldn't refute his uncle's words. He also died in a shootout in Compton, California in 1998, just two years after Tupac's death.

In a previous interview, Los Angeles police detective Greg Kading who had worked on Tupac's murder case confessed he wouldn't be surprised if Davis was arrested in connection to the murders. At the time he said: "People have been yearning for him to be arrested for a long time. It's never been unsolved in our minds. It's been unprosecuted."
