A set of "incredibly rare" female twin Siberian Tigers born at Toledo Zoo remain nameless as officials can't decide what to call the adorable felines

Zoo officials have thrown the ball into the public's court. Individuals can visit the Ohio zoo's website and vote for two names provided by Toledo—each vote will cost you £0.82. The proceeds will go toward "the care for and protection of the Amur Tigers(another name for Siberian tigers), both at the Toledo Zoo and globally."

The zoo suggested 8 names in total and each has a different meaning. The choices include Calida(fiery) and Valentina(strong). The two names that acquire the most votes will be moved into the final round, which will be ultimately decided by the zookeepers.

"They're all beautiful names and the cool part about those names is they were all picked by the keeper staff who takes care of them," Toledo Zoo's Mammal Curator Micheal Frushour said.

Micheal announced the birth of the twins earlier this month on its Facebook page, alongside a video of the cats with their mother Talya. The caption read: "Hold onto your stripes!!! We've got paw-sitively exciting news. On July 20, we welcomed twin Amur tigers. The cubs were born to mom, Talya, and dad, Titan. Talya and Titan had also welcomed twins in 2021.

At their last exam earlier this month, the twins were 15 and 16 pounds. Talya and the playful cubs are doing well off-exhibit." According to Micheal, a set of twin Siberian tigers is very uncommon.

He said their birth was "incredibly rare" because there are 5,000 tigers in the world and fewer than 500 of this specific species. “It’s really special for us to have, especially two girls, so it’s a really exciting day,” he said.

The curator also mentioned that Talya is doing "absolutely great" after the birth. The tiger family will be available for the public to see in an exhibit "really soon" although he didn't mention a specific time.

The Siberian tiger is said to be the largest in the world, according to Animal Fact Guide, which is a website that provides animal descriptions along with quizzes. It can reach 11 feet in length with a tail size of roughly three feet.

Adult male Siberian Tigers can weigh up to 700 pounds while females usually grow to 400. These rare animals are distinguished by their striped fur.

Like human fingerprints, no two tigers have the same strip[e patterns, making every single one incredibly unique in appearance. Unlike other tigers, their stripes are pale. Additionally, they possess manes.

Siberian tigers reside mostly in a small region Southeast Russia but can possibly be found in small quantities within China and North Korea.
