Star Wars fans are eagerly awaiting season four of The Mandalorian on Disney+ - but when will it drop?
Rumours are the new series is very much in the works, but before you get too excited to catch up with Mando and Baby Yoda (aka Grogu), you could be waiting a while yet. The Mandalorian might well have started its run as an autumnal series, but for the third straight year in a row, we sadly won’t be getting any new episodes this season, reports Bam Smack Pow.
If you've been paying attention, you'll know the first two seasons landed at this time of year, while the third instalment appeared in March 2022, so to expect another season so close was always going to be a tall order.
Is The Mandalorian season 4 happening, or what?
Ever fond of building a sense of anticipation, Disney has remained tight-lipped on officially announcing a season 4. But series creator Jon Favreau has confirmed that it is DEFINITELY in the works. As far back as 2022, the talented Favreau confirmed he was already writing the fourth instalment despite season 3 not even being released at the time.
“With television, we’re very lucky that we don’t have to rush things through into an hour-and-a-half, two hours. We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni]’s doing Ahsoka, it’s very much informing the writing that I’m doing for [The Mandalorian] Season 4. It becomes – how should I put it – more precise,” Favreau told Cinemablend.

So if we believe that The Mandalorian season 4 is already written - and why shouldn't we? - it is looking likely that everyone's favourite bounty hunter with a heart could possibly slide into view next year.
As filming hasn’t even started on it yet thanks to ongoing strikes, it would be highly unlikely for a Spring 2024 premiere, according to Bam Smack Pow. But it is more than possible we could see the show finished in time for an Autumn 2024 premiere. But having said that, it is equally possible we could have to wait until 2025 for season 4 as Disney has been spacing out its bigger originals more in recent years. Quite literally, watch this space!
