Everything leaving Netflix in October including much-loved horror films

As Halloween looms large on the horizon and Netflix busies itself for a month of fright-nights, it's perhaps surprising that two much-loved children's horror classics will be leaving the platform next month.

But thank goodness we're here to save your little pumpkins from missing out on the devilishly good Goosebumps, which departs the streaming service - along with its sequel - on October 1. Based on the popular novels by R.L Stine, the movies star Jack Black as the author and are a real witch's cauldron of fun.

Goosebumps (2015) tells the tale of a teenager who teams up with Stine's daughter after the writer's imaginary demons are set free on the town of Madison, Delaware. Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, which arrived three years later, sees Sonny and Sam attempting to launch a rubbish clean-up business. After being called after school to tidy up an abandoned house, they discover a locked manuscript and open it - causing Slappy the Dummy to appear. They then unwittingly bring him to life by speaking magic words - and all hell breaks loose!

Other spooktacular favourites mysteriously leaving Netflix in October include Friday 13th, Halloween 2 and I, Frankenstein. But if apparitions and superstitions aren't really your bag, there's plenty of other stuff to see before it's too late.

Perhaps most notably, the 2016 mysterious alien-flick Arrival starring Amy Adams, is well worth a watch. This thought-provoking and entirely beguiling outing has linguist (Adams) working with the military to communicate with alien lifeforms after a dozen mysterious spacecraft appear around the world.

With its massive emphasis on how different cultures, societies, and world leaders would react following a visit of the unknown, Arrival is a clever movie that you really should watch before it takes off into space.
