A flight bound for the Republic of Ireland from Spain was forced into an emergency landing in the UK after a passenger fell ill this evening.
Aer Lingus flight E1749 from Bilbao to Dublin diverted to Cardiff Airport due to a "medical emergency", an airline spokesperson told the Mirror. It's understood the plane landed at 5.32pm UK time and was met by an air ambulance. A 999 call had been made at 5.15pm.
A video shows the plane's flight path. A Wales Ambulance Service spokesperson said one person was taken by road ambulance to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Their condition is unclear.
Speaking just before 7pm, the Aer Lingus spokesperson added the aircraft was due to resume its journey to the Irish capital city shortly.
Their statement said: “Aer Lingus flight EI749 from Bilbao to Dublin diverted to Cardiff due to a passenger medical emergency. The aircraft will [shortly] resume its flight to Dublin.“

The Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called today (20 September) shortly after 5:15pm to reports of a medical emergency at Cardiff International Airport.
"We sent one emergency ambulance, one duty operational manager and one advanced paramedic practitioner to the scene, where we were supported by the Wales Air Ambulance. One person was taken by road to University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff for further treatment.”
