Jessica Chastain suffered an awkward tumble at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards after her heel caught in her dress while she was on her way to collect her award.

Jessica, 45, stumbled as she made her way to the stage to collect her gong for Best Female Actor in a Television Movie or Series for George & Tammy, with Normal People star Paul Mescal coming to her aid.

It marks ten years on since Jennifer Lawrence fell while collecting her Oscar for Best Actress for Silver Linings Playbook.

Jessica, who wore a pink off the shoulder gown to the ceremony in LA last night, was helped up the stairs by Courtney B Vance, but lost her footing for a moment, using her hand to steady herself, while Courtney stayed by her side for support.

Chivalrous Paul, already on the stage, then escorted Jessica to the podium.

One Twitter user shared a video of the clip, writing: "Jessica Chastain honoring Jennifer Lawrence for the 10-year anniversary of her fall at the Oscars."

Jessica addressed the fall afterwards, telling Extra: “I just needed to be airlifted, I couldn’t do it, my whole body was shaking.

“But I had Court and I had Paul Mescal, so I mean, a girl was in a good position.”

The Zero Dark Thirty star told People she felt "a little embarrassed" by the slip-up, but said: “I had two very handsome men helping me up, so that wasn’t so bad.”

Jessica, who played country music singer Tammy Wynette, beat Julia Garner, Amanda Seyfried, Emily Blunt and Niecy Nash- Betts for the gong.

In her acceptance speech, Jessica paid tribute to late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, in 2014, who visited her class in college.

She recalled he “encouraged us to keep going even when we felt like no one was watching us”.

Jessica went on: “I’m telling this story now because it reminds me of how powerful our mind is and that we are what our thoughts created."

She added: “So I just wanna tell everyone who might be struggling at home, to all the actors that I get to meet: keep going. You’re one job away. I look forward to working with you. I’ll see you on set. I love you.”

There were plenty of significant and touching moments from the ceremony, with Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan making history.

The star became the first Astian actor to win Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.

The Vietnamese- American actor said, upon collecting his award: "I quickly realised that this moment no longer belongs to me. It also belongs to everyone who has asked for change.

"The landscape looked so different now than before. So, thank you so much to all of you in this room and everyone who contributed to these changes."

Quan concluded: "To all those at home who are watching and struggling and waiting to be seen. Please keep on going, because the spotlight will one day find you.
