Netflix's enthralling and downright creepy new series The Fall of the House of Usher finally hits our screens this week - and fans can't wait.
Based on the Edgar Allan Poe story of the same name, the frightening show follows sibling duo Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) and Madeline Usher (Mary McDonnell), who head up their Fortunato Pharmaceuticals empire. Between them they've created an enviable world of wealth, privilege and absolute power — but as ever, at a hefty price.
The family’s sinisterly shadowy past starts to be dragged out into the light as heirs from the dynasty begin dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth. And the dazzling first trailer, which you can see above, gives viewers a teasing snapshot of just some of the gruesome killings to come.

The eagerly-awaited eight parter is directed by the very talented Mike Flanagan, who is best known for his work in horror films and television series. Flanagan has received much praise from critics for his masterful craftsmanship and refreshing lack of reliance on jump scares.

The auteur's films, all of which he directed, wrote, and edited, include Oculus (2013), Hush (2016), Before I Wake (2016), Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016), Gerald's Game (2017), and The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep (2019).
He also created, directed, and served as showrunner on the series The Haunting of Hill House (2018), The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020), Midnight Mass (2021) and the teen horror series The Midnight Club (2022).
The Fall of the House of Usher features a star-studded cast including Carl Lumbly (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), T'Nia Miller (The Peripheral), Rahul Kohli (iZombie) and Mark Hamill (Star Wars).
