A British make-up artist and educator who recently moved to the US listed a few notable observations since her move across the Atlantic.
Olivia Christina posted a TikTok video that has gone viral as she highlighted three 'weird' things since relocating to Los Angeles last month. In the one-minute clip, entitled 'Things I've realized as a British girl living in LA', Olivia is seen relaxing back on a grey seat as she reels off her thoughts.
She said: “I’ve been living in LA for the past three weeks and there are just a few things that just make me laugh – they’re a bit weird." First up is an issue with Americans understanding her accent.
The long-haired brunette, from Manchester, said she has a "very neutral" British accent. She added: "'You know it's not super Northern, not super southern - it's not really anything - but people are so confused."
Olivia, whose TikTik page has 4,420 followers and just over 82,000 likes, went on to claim that people mistake her for being 'French' or 'Scottish' and finished off by declaring that "they just don't get it." Next up on her list is food, specifically chicken, which she finds hard to stomach.

She complained: "Also I don't care what anyone says, but the chicken here is from another planet. It tastes so weird to the point that I can't eat it. I can't eat the chicken here. It is so weird, I don't like it."

Lastly, Olivia has a few issues about the behaviour of Uber drivers in LA, claiming they are often trying to hit on her. She said: “You can’t get into an Uber without the Uber driver asking for your number, if they can take you on a date or if you wanna go on vacation with them.”
She added firmly: “Like no. I don’t want to do any of those things and why would you think you can ask me that, it’s bizarre.” Olivia went on to say that LA Uber drivers are "really young" and that "it's like they are trying to pick you up."
The video has amassed more than 24,000 views since it was posted last week and dozens of replies. One user said: "You should of moved to Texas, where there are still gentlemen!" while another empathised with Olivia's cross-cultural issues and commented: "Im from the midlands and lived in Canada the last 2 yrs everyone thought I was Australian, more ppl thought I was south african than I was british."
