When David Walliams married supermodel Lara Stone back in 2010, it seems like everything in his life was perfectly placed.
Just like his career, things appeared to be set but it wasn't long before the cracks started to show for the Little Britain funnyman. His private life was catapulted into the spotlight as he split from his wife five years after they tied the knot in 2015. The pair, who share son Alfred together, went through a messy divorce after claims from the comedian that his partner cited "unreasonable behaviour".
The couple got together and started dating in 2009 after reportedly meeting at a Chelsea football match. Lara admitted she was "very nervous" on their first date but soon knew they shared a "very mean sense of humour". Lara and David have a reported wealth of approaching £20million – David has a net worth of £16.3million and Lara £2.6million.
Moving fast, they got engaged just a year after setting eyes on each other. Only four months later the couple wed in front of family and friends at Claridge's Hotel in London in a lavish £80,000 ceremony. Celebrity A-lister guests included Sir Elton John, Russell Brand and Stephen Fry. But it didn't last.
David was said to be "devastated" at the split, which came less than two years after Lara gave birth to their son. Eight years ago, Lara agreed to take the blame in the divorce proceedings. However, according to insiders, it was the model who wanted to legally separate as their five year union was officially dissolved within six weeks.
Amanda Holden breaks silence on BGT feud as she admits Bruno has 'broken rules'"David didn't want to divorce and desperately hoped they could work things out," a source told The Sun at the time. "But Lara was insistent and David accepted for the sake of Alfred. It was easier for David to divorce Lara and claim it was her unreasonable behaviour. She was willing to accept that as the reason."
In July 2021, Lara got married to David Grievson after the pair found love on dating app Tinder in 2018. Lara confirmed she and her husband were engaged in February 2020 after two years of dating, with Lara showing off her diamond ring at a VIP dinner in Mayfair. In a series of sweet snaps on Instagram, the Dutch model announced she had wed her fiancé in a private ceremony. At the time, she captioned a set of black and white photos as the newlyweds smiled as they made their way out of the church. She wrote: "Got to marry my love this weekend!"
Since their split in 2015, David has been romantically linked with a string of women, including Made In Chelsea star Ashley James, 36, Hollywood actress Kate Beckinsale, 50, Playboy model Emily Agnes, 32, and Miss Norway contender Sylvia Flote. Following his ex-wife's new marriage and David's long string of relationships, the comedian is hoping to settle down after reports that he's looking for love. Last year it was reported David allegedly joined the celebrity dating app, Raya, in hopes of striking up a romance and is supposedly using pictures of him with his two border terriers Bert and Ernie on his profile.
In one picture shared by The Sun, David was seen cuddling one of his dogs as another showed the star looking dapper in a black suit with a spotted pocket square. A third showed him dressed up as a woman for one of his television sketches "It looks more like a chance to adopt a homeless puppy than to go on a date. I half expected it to say, 'Enjoys long walks and lots of stroking'," a source told the publication. Obviously David recognises there’s a certain appeal to his cute pets and has put them front and centre many of the pictures. In some of them you can barely even see him."
David has revealed he has a marriage pact with Sheridan Smith. Speaking on ITV's Lorraine, he said: "We have a lot of fun together actually. We talk about getting married when we are older, when we have exhausted all other opportunities. Did you ever have those kind of pacts with someone? Do you know what I mean? 'If we are still single, aged 90, we will get married to each other.'"
