Jurgen Klopp's agent doubles down on Liverpool exit plan amid Germany links

Jurgen Klopp's agent has reiterated his client won't be leaving Liverpool before 2026 amid speculation linking him with the Germany job.

Klopp, 56, has been touted as the favourite to succeed Hansi Flick, who was sacked by the German FA earlier this week following a 4-1 defeat against Japan. The former Bayern Munich coach had been under pressure in the build-up to the fixture after overseeing a poor World Cup campaign.

While it remains to be seen whether or not Germany are actually planning to approach Klopp, the Anfield chief has previously been linked with the role and has also admitted he would be open to coaching his country. But Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke has insisted that his star client will not be lured away from Anfield before his current deal expires in 2026

Kosicke told German outlet Sportschau: "Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and is not available for the national coaching position." Kosicke's comments are similar to ones made by Klopp when he was quizzed about the prospect of coaching Germany earlier this summer in the wake of the pressure Flick was under.

During an interview with Sky Germany, Klopp admitted: "The job of national coach is and would be a great honour - there's no question about that. The problem that stands in the way of the whole thing is my loyalty. I can't just leave Liverpool now and say I'll take over Germany for a short time. That doesn't work and the request isn't even there. If I'm supposed to do that at some point, then I have to be available and I'm not currently. I have a responsibility towards the club. Basically, it's an interesting job. But I don't know yet whether I'll do something completely different after I leave Liverpool. I want to keep my options open."

Rudi Voller took charge for the 2-1 win over France on Tuesday night, but the German FA are expected to press ahead with plans to source Flick's permanent successor imminently. Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has already quashed speculation linking him with the role. Julian Nagelsmann and Oliver Glasner are two of the more prominent names who are understood to be in the frame for the job.
