Corrie star confirms soap exit has already aired after ‘crazy’ storyline
Coronation Street actor Adam Little has exited the ITV soap amid a major racial violence story, the star has now confirmed.
The actor arrived in Weatherfield last summer as character Blake Myers, who fell in with Max Turner (Paddy Bever) in evil Griff's gang as part of a dangerous far right storyline.
Adam’s final scenes aired in scenes on Monday night on the ITV soap, when Blake was sentenced for the vicious stabbing of Alya Nazir as well as the attempted murder of councillor Maria Connor.
Adam took to social media to share the news of his exit with fans, writing a lengthy caption alongside a black and white snap of him posing in the cobble's fictional ginnel.
He wrote: “Thank you to Coronation Street for the opportunity to be a part of this storyline and play crazy man Blake!
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundaries"It’s been a blast working with such a friendly cast and crew who have made me so welcome.
"Thank you to all the viewers who have supported and sent me lovely messages it’s really appreciated.”
The storyline Adam was involved with has proved to be a controversial one with ITV viewers and the violent stabbing scenes last week prompted a number of Ofcom complaints.
Over 50 viewers reported to the broadcasting regulator over the dark episode, which saw the show's ongoing extremism plot reach its terrifying conclusion.
Furious viewers took to Ofcom to complain about the violence in the episode that aired pre-watershed last Wednesday evening - with 72 complaints in total.
According to the communications regulator, scenes of racial violence were the reason for the complaints, as the episode saw Alya stabbed and almost killed by Blake as he live-streamed the horror.
The attack took place at an event organised to highlight the Weatherfield refugee drop in centre.
Maria had just made a speech welcoming the refugees and offering them support – while recently groomed teen Max Turner was on his phone, listening to a character named Blake making a racist speech pledging to put an end to the refugee centre by whatever means necessary.
Max had been manipulated by a far-right group, with racist Griff isolating him from his loved ones and encouraging him to help spread his racist agenda.
Fellow teen Blake had also been manipulated it seems, and soon he decided to act out and he tried to murder councillor Maria.
