Liverpool's stars are off on international duty as the Premier League takes a break this weekend.

Sitting third in the table on 10 points after four games following last Sunday's rampant 3-0 win at home to Aston Villa, the Reds remain undefeated and are keen to banish the memories of last season's wretched campaign. Europa League football is on the horizon but for now, manager Jurgen Klopp is is taking stock while his players represent their countries - and the Liverpool boss has made trip back home of his own.

Here's a round-up of the latest news from Anfield.

Klopp makes emotional return

Jurgen Klopp made the most of a break in Premier League action by returning to his homeland, Germany. Klopp went back to where it all started for him as a manager, having also spent the vast majority of his playing career there.

On Saturday, the Liverpool boss was presented to fans ahead of the Bundesliga side's friendly against Duisberg at the Bruchwegstadion. The match had been organised as a farewell event for the stadium's famous Sudtribune stand which is due to be demolished next year. Mainz described Klopp's appearance as a "flying visit" and he wore a t-shirt reading: "Sudtribune, stufen voller geschichte," which translates to "South Bank, steps full of history" in English.

Nunez shines in Uruguay win

Darwin Nunez continued his productive run of form by notching two assists for Uruguay during Friday's 3-1 victory over Chile in World Cup qualifying. Inheriting the No.9 shirt from former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, Nunez set up both of Nicolas de la Cruz's goals to send yet another message to his critics.

The 24-year-old also fired off six shots as well as completing the most dribbles in the game with three. Nunez is now working under acclaimed manager Marcelo Bielsa at international level and has been having video call conversations with the ex-Leeds manager in a bid to improve his game. "Some things he thinks can be better," Nunez explained last month. "He corrects me."

Konate drops return hint

Ibrahima Konate is edging closer to returning from his injury layoff, having been ruled out of France's fixtures this month due to an ongoing hamstring issue. The centre-back, 24, has still headed back to his home country during the break, visiting Paris.

On Instagram, Konate shared a brief video of himself out for a run, suggesting that his return to action could be imminent. The former RB Leipzig star, who signed for Liverpool in a £36million transfer deal two years ago, had been replaced in the France squad by Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo after boss Didier Deschamps admitted that Konate was "insufficiently recovered" to be available.
