A woman has died after she was mauled by two Rottweilers when she went to pet them.
Marie Stevens has been found dead at home in Liverpool following the attack. The 40-year-old was bitten by the animals on her arms and legs on August 18 on Park Lane West, Netherton.
The attack occurred after Ms Stevens 'tried to stroke' the two dogs, who were on a lead. The owners, a man and a woman, reportedly tried to stop the attack before Ms Stevens was bitten multiple times.
The male owner took the dogs away from the scene while the woman remained with Ms Stevens until emergency services arrived. She was rushed to hospital and later discharged. A 41-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman were then arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dangerously out of control dog in a public place.
Merseyside Police have today confirmed Ms Stevens was found dead at her home in Brighton-le-Sands almost three weeks on from the attack on September 3. A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm a woman who was injured in a dog attack in Netherton last month has sadly died.
