It’s nearly been one year since Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland on September 8, 2022 after a historic 70 year reign.

To mark the anniversary on Friday, Prince William and Princess Kate will make an emotional pilgrimage to St David’s Cathedral in Wales, where the late monarch visited. The Prince of Wales will lead tributes on behalf of the Royal Family, paying homage to the life and legacy of the Queen, with sources claiming the message will strongly “look to the future”.

Meanwhile, King Charles III and Queen Camilla will reportedly honour the anniversary “quietly and privately” at Balmoral. Prince Harry will be in Britain on Thursday (September 7) for the WellChild awards, where he will deliver a speech.

The Duke of Sussex is not thought to be planning a trip to Balmoral as his Invictus Games tournament for wounded veterans commences on September 9 in Dusseldorf, Germany. During his brief time in his home country, Harry is not expected to see any members of the Firm, including Charles and William.

Sources have said that the younger prince could use his WellChild speech in London to pay tribute to the late queen and extend an olive branch to family members. PR expert Eric Schiffer told Newsweek: "I think any respect for his grandmother would be well received ultimately. If he has an interest in a relationship he'd be wise to pay tribute to his father."

Meanwhile, his return has reportedly raised fears that he will draw attention away from the anniversary. Writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue told Sky News Australia: "One of the concerns that him being here (in London) - him giving that speech at the WellChild Awards, might move attention away from the one year anniversary of the Queen’s passing to whatever antics that Prince Harry has going on.”
