When we stumble on a sport or hobby we truly enjoy, it can bring excitement into our lives, especially for children. Parents feel pride when their child expresses an interest or passion in a healthy and active activity, such as swimming, dancing, or reading. But for one woman, her troubles began when she let her son practice his football at home.

The mum said that when her eight-year-old son returned from school, he would go to the garden and kick a ball at their neighbours' fence to improve his goal kicks. But when he attempted to improve his technique, their neighbour would end up complaining.

Speaking on Reddit, she shared: "My 8 year old son loves to play sport, especially soccer. Everything has been well so far, except one of my neighbours (who resides in the house opposite to our backyard) has complained about my son kicking his soccer ball onto the shared fence."

She continued: "On one day my neighbour came outside and yelled out 'can you please stop kicking the fence?'. My son giggled and stopped that day because it was starting to get dark, but the next day he resumed per usual."

The stressed mum finally spoke to her neighbour to resolve the issue - and said she won't stop her son from his hobby, as it's better he stays outside instead of playing video games indoors. "I told her that the fence is strong colourbond and that it won't be damaged and that I won't tell him to stop because he is playing outside."

The woman added: "I don't think I'm in the wrong. I mean, my son loves sport and is practicing his kicking skills for when we enrol him in a team. It's better than him playing with electronics."

In response, one person shared their advice and wrote: "Get a net. They make taught ones that will bounce the ball back at him exactly like a fence." A second person added: "I have 3 kids - and I don't allow them to hit things at the fences.. or scream uncontrollably.. or be a nuisance to our neighbours. Yea they are kids in their backyard.. but our neighbours also have the right to enjoy their backyard without super annoying kids next door."
