When you go abroad, one of the first things you realise is how different life can be in a foreign country. Things such as driving on the opposite side of the road or visiting different shops and supermarkets can make Brits miss their home comforts - but we'd like to think that when visitors come to the UK, things aren't too strange.

We're used to our little quirks as a nation, and for us, it's normal life. However, a man has shared on TikTok how different life is in the UK compared to his American comforts and shared the annoyances he found in day-to-day life.

American ex-pat Mark Cole, who currently lives in Scotland, has soon come to realise we're living completely different from how they do in America. We might have American influences such as McDonald's and various TV shows, but Mark has pointed out some of his pet peeves about the UK.

Things we take for granted aren't so normal, as Mark has pointed out, and for starters, he can't believe Brits just park on the side of the road. In his video, the baffled American stood in the road and said: "Brits just park at the side of the road," as he posed next to the cars.

Another thing grinding his gear is how small everything appears to be to him. Whether it's our showers, sinks, or cars, Mark isn't a fan of the size and said: "They love tiny cars," and also had a gripe about our roads, as he said "they drive on the wrong side of the road" and that there are "potholes everywhere".

We are famous for our rainy days, and Mark soon realised we've become accustomed to a rainy day as he said: "It rains every single day", but was also miffed that people's homes aren't equipped with air conditioning as he shared: "There are no ceiling fans."

"People dump things at the sides of roads," Mark griped at the litter on the streets and wasn't impressed sharing a photo of rubbish piling up, as well as sharing a photo of McDonald's litter in a car park, and added: "There's litter everywhere."

It's safe to say, Mark's opinions have stirred up many Brits, who have hit back at his views and defended the UK. One TikToker jibed: It's not worth putting a ceiling fan for two weeks of sun a year," whilst another added: "It's almost as if you're in a different country."
