Bride scolds sister-in-law for wearing a white dress - two weeks before wedding

When you're invited to a wedding, one of the biggest dilemmas can be what you're going to wear. Obviously the biggest faux-pas a guest can make is wearing white on the day, but otherwise weddings are an opportunity to dress up while keeping in mind the bride's theme. But who would have thought that what you wear before a wedding might be just as contentious as what you wear on the day?
One woman found herself in trouble with her sister-in-law as she wore a white dress at her 40th birthday party - two weeks before her sister-in-law was due to get married. The bride-to-be was so angry that she demanded to see what her sister-in-law was wearing to the wedding.
Posting about the quarrel on Reddit, she set the scene: “Thursday was my 40th birthday. I invited immediate family and my closest friends. The party was yesterday and it was a great day. I noticed that my brother-in-law (husband's brother) and his fiancé were a bit standoffish but my soon to be sister-in-law is always standoffish with me so nothing new."
But then, her husband awoke to a long, angry text message - all because she wore a white dress on her birthday. ""My sister-in-law thinks that I always wear inappropriate clothes that draw attention to me so now she's demanding to see what I will be wearing at her wedding. I asked if they're asking everyone. No, just me," the dismayed woman wrote.

The woman refused to show them what she was planning on wearing, as the bride threatened to disinvite the couple from her wedding. "My husband is conflicted… I think I'd rather have my husband go alone than being treated like a child," she revealed. Despite eventually making the decision not to go, this didn't stop her sister-in-law from asking to see the dress.

When the woman surprised Redditors with an update on the saga, no one could have imagined what might happen. With the couple set on missing the happy occasion, they decided to keep their heads down and let the wedding carry on. When other members of the family found out about the dispute, they took things even further.
The woman's other sister-in-law - the sister of her husband and the groom - heard what was going on and told the other women invited what had happened. To get revenge, she encouraged them to dress in short dresses and even wear white. "I think it was so easy to pull because none of my husband's family like my sister-in-law or brother-in-law for that matter," the author revealed. "[The bride] spent the wedding angry and crying and at times refused to leave the restroom demanding her husband to kick out his sister amongst others. The sister and a few others left before dinner was served. They got toasters from at least 50 of the couples of they invited."
She concluded the post by saying: "Now my sister-in-law is saying I have ruined her wedding by being in cahoots with my other sister in law and the rest of her family. I intentionally had a big party to ruin her wedding party. I wore white so I would look like the main character in the pictures and I stole her honeymoon dream. I wasn't. I even begged my other sister-in-law to forget this whole thing and not to make more drama at her wedding, but here we are. I have blocked them because I don't want any more problems."
Respondents supported the woman, who received compliments for her birthday dress choice. One Redditor added: “Apparently, getting married in two weeks means she owns the colour white for as long as she wants. Ridiculous.”
She thanked Redditors for the ego boost, saying: "I will not let others bully me because of my age or what I choose to wear and how I express myself."
