'I'm a Wetherspoons fan who knows the best day to visit which will save you £60'

Wetherspoons is well known as a good spot to nip in for a cheap drink or some food but one woman who claims to be a superfan has revealed how eating on one particular day could make a visit to the boozer even cheaper than usual - saving as much as £60 a year.
Nicola Frapwell, a 32-year-old data manager from West Sussex, has spent years visiting Wetherspoons and believes she has worked out a few money-saving tips along the way. First off are the pub chain’s famous ‘club’ days, for example their Thursday curry night promotion. The chain drops prices on certain foods for one day per week during these ‘club’ days. The curry night, Nicola’s favourite, runs every Thursday from 11.30am until 11pm and sees the price of a curry, rice, nan, poppadoms and a soft drink, which usually costs £8.95, come down to £7.80 - which is a saving of £1.15 over the regular price. Swap the soft drink for an alcoholic beverage and the usual £10.25 price is £9.10 on Thursdays, the same saving.
These deals, while small on their own, do add up; if you bought the meal deal every week for a year you'd save yourself £60 overall. "The curry is really tasty and when you think of a proper Indian I would say it’s the same level of quality, Nicola told the Sun. “The portion size is good as well. It’s affordable, there's lots of different options for the curry. I would really recommend it”. Another favourite of Nicola’s is fish Fridays, she said: "It's a good portion size and good value for money. You get a big bit of fish."
But she also had other tips for saving cash at the chain. One such offer is the free refills Wetherspoons offer on teas and coffees to have in and you can get it seven days a week. Nicola said the deal was a good option for older people who may be lonely, "They can catch up with local punters, have a coffee and be in there all afternoon," she explained. While the price for the refill hot drinks varies from pub to pub they its costs around 99p to add the option, meaning if you had three hot drinks you’d end up saving yourself £2 over buying them separately. Once weekly over a year you could end up saving £100 on brews. And being a pub, Wetherspoons aren’t short of options for a spirit, if that’s your thing with singles of Beefeater, Gordons, Sailor Jerry's and Bombay Sapphire brands and prices start from £2-£3 for a single.
