Sheikh Jassim reaction to reports Glazers have taken Man Utd off market
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani remains confident he can still secure Manchester United despite reports of the Glazers staying put.
The American family are exploring their options, which could involve a full sale, although the process has been taking place for months and no fresh bids have been lodged recently. Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the two men looking to replace the Glazers.
United's current owners have been largely absent with fans desperate to get them out. However they've stood firm amid a storm of criticism and protests and appear willing to sit in as they look to maximise their profits. Sky Sports understands both Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim believe the club is still on the market as they await an answer.
The Qatari bid is for a complete takeover whilst they have also vowed to clear the club's debts and pour money into the infrastructure, which has been greatly neglected over the past decade. Ratcliffe meanwhile would keep the Glazers in place for a period before eventually buying them out.
The Mail on Sunday have suggested that the Glazers were prepared to shelf their plans to sell the club until 2025 when they think their ideal valuation of £7bn-£10bn will be met.

They hope that 'financial and environmental factors' could attract more lucrative bids at that time. The Glazers remain hopeful they could sell the Premier League giants for an even higher price due to an increase in TV revenue, the expansion of the Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup.

Gary Neville, who has been a vocal critic of United's owners, made his feelings known on them potentially taking the club off the market. He said: " I don’t believe the Glazers not selling/doing anything story. They have to do something. They’ve run out of money and the financial situation is desperate. They need investment in. They’re also having a toxic impact on the club from the inside out.
"The negligence continues for now but I don’t think it can go on without some action on raising funds. Also who would come in as a minority alongside them with the damage it would do to their reputation."
David Beckham has also told The Athletic : "Once you lose the fans, especially at a club like Manchester United, it's hard to get them back. "Obviously, they have achieved a lot, and financially, the fact we're even talking about the numbers of what Manchester United will sell for shows the success they've had."
