One of the UK's best broadband deals has just launched - if you're eligible it could save you a fortune

Nobody wants to pay over the odds for broadband, or get locked into an unnecessarily long contract.

This is particularly true for students, who often only spend around three quarters of the year at their term-time addresses—but still have to fork out for a 12- or even 24-month broadband contract.

Fortunately, Community Fibre has just launched a whopper of a deal which means students in London can sign up to a 1Gbps or 150 Mbps full fibre broadband package and get the first three months for free.

They'll have until the end of the Freshers' period to sign up to the deal, which promises speeds of up to 45 times faster than the UK average. (Deal ends October 31)

If you want the full 1Gbps fibre package, it will cost £27 per month after the first three months (which are free). Or, you can sign up to the 150 Mbps deal for £22 per month (again with the first three months free). All it takes is a £14.95 setup fee to get going.

The deal is unfortunately only available for students in London, due to the fact that Community Fibre only operates within the city's limits. Students in London typically also face a much higher cost of living than those outside of the capital, spending an estimate of £1400 per month on bills and living costs versus £924 for students based elsewhere.

A spokesperson for Community Fibre said: "Not all students want to pay for a full 12-month contract during university, so throughout Freshers, London students can sign-up to Community Fibre's 1 Gbps or 150 Mbps 100% full fibre package for a year and get the first three months free".

If you're struggling with the cost of broadband, there are cheaper options even if you're not a student or living in London. Many broadband providers now offer a social tariff to low-income households, pensioners and anyone else in receipt of state benefits. Find out more with Mirror.co.uk's full guide
