Rylan Clark has shared a photo of his beloved mum Linda in hospital as he provided fans with an update on her emergency surgery.

The Radio 2 host, 34, left fans deeply concerned last week after revealing that his mum had had a bad fall while they were on holiday, meaning that she had needed to have emergency surgery abroad. He went on to explain that she wasn't in the best health condition, which had made it even more complicated.

Thankfully, Linda appears to be doing better and Rylan shared a sweet photo of her smiling with her arm and leg bandaged up in hospital. Taking to Instagram on Sunday, he wrote: "Someone is out of the bed and in a chair. She can’t believe how many people have sent messages. Thanks everyone. Will update you all with more as I can x."

Rylan's celebrity friends were quick to send their love, with showbiz mum Ruth Langsford writing: "Good to see her smiling." While Denise Welch wrote: "Much love Linda." Others simply sent a flood of heart emojis, hoping for the best.

It comes a day after Rylan told his 1.7million followers that his mum was out of surgery, joking: "Mum is out of surgery. All went well. Asked me if she can still have a new driveway…. She’s deffo come round. Thanks for all your lovely messages x."

Last week, he shared a worrying message online and pulling out of work committments earlier today - informing fans he wouldn't be presenting his Radio 2 slot over the weekend following mum Linda suffering "quite a bad fall" and needing emergency surgery.

The former This Morning star was flooded with support from stars like Stacey Solomon and Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman as he shared on social media: "So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she's had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out there.

"She's not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated. My priority at the moment is my mum. Cheers to scott for covering me at radio 2 and Thanks to the people out there that have sent their well wishes," [sic] he penned. "Praying for a successful surgery and a quick recovery. Will update you on mummy Linda as and when I can x."

Rylan's post was soon met with well wishes from celebrity friends and fans as McFly star Tom Fletcher wrote: "Hope she’s ok mate. Loads of love. X". Ella Henderson added: "Sending all my love and well wishes!! Xxxx I’ll call you later" followed by a string of heart emojis. While comedian Josh Widdicombe sent a trio of heart emojis in the comments. And Loose Women's Ruth Langsford wrote: "Oh no….darling Linda. Sending you both all our love".

Rylan touched on his mum health issues in his second memoir last year. Writing in Ten: The Decade That Changed My Life, the 33-year-old recalled: Mum suffers from Crohn's disease. It's one of those things that can go undetected for quite a long time, but she got diagnosed before I was born, so she's had it all my life.

"She's had three major bowel operations, her first when I was really young. She couldn't work, so I got to be with her at home when I was little, which was amazing. Most of the time when I was a kid, if my mum was ill you wouldn't have known. She just got on with it. But when you knew that my mum was ill, then you knew she was REALLY ill, because otherwise she just kept going. Sometimes, she would be in so much pain and so unwell that she had to stay in bed all day."

He went on to remember how sometimes Linda would be "crying all the time" due to the pain and shared how "Nanny Rose was my mum's carer" when the Chron's attacks got bad, before his beloved grandmother got dementia and Linda had to become her carer instead.
