Meghan Markle has 'done enough' to have the 'potential' to get a DVF award
Meghan Markle has "the potential" to be honoured with a DVF award, which is given to women who are dedicated to improving the lives of other women.
With the DVF (Diane von Furstenberg) Awards this past Thursday, Rochelle White, a PR expert, told the Mirror the chances of Meghan being honoured with an award, which has been given to the likes of Amal Clooney and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
"I personally think that she could be in the running," Rochelle said, "I feel like she has done enough and is doing enough to potentially win it."
The DVF awards have happened annually since 2010. According to their website: "Each year, five awards are bestowed to women who have demonstrated leadership, strength, and courage in their commitment to women’s causes. The Diller-von Furstenberg Family Foundation grants each person honoured $100,000 (over £125,000) for their non-profit organisation in order to further their important work."
Meghan isn't a stranger to the non-profit world and has made appearances at her husband's Invictus Games for servicemen and women. But on her own, she's well versed in the area of women empowerment.
Oprah Winfrey snubs Harry and Meghan as expert claims 'the tide has turned'She's previously worked as an advocate for the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. After a trip to India, she wrote an op-ed piece for Time Magazine about menstrual health stigma. Most recently in April of this year, she won the Women of Vision Award from the Ms. Foundation for Women.
With a year of ups and downs for her and Prince Harry's company Archewell Productions, with her Spotify deal being dropped but bagging a Netflix partnership, and being a mother of two, Meghan's had her focus on other things. Since Meghan's been busy, Rochelle says she wouldn't be "surprised" if she gets a DVF award next year or the year after.
Rochelle said: "I don't think she's stupid in regards to how she puts herself out there, but I don't also think it's too strategic. I think you'll probably start to see a bit more personality. I think you'll see her doing what she loves to do, and what she does best." She added: "After watching their documentary, I think she's very aware of the eyes that the media has on her, I think she's very aware of wherever she does."
The Duchess of Sussex has also relaunched her Instagram and Rochelle says "There were talks a few months ago about her sort of, I think bringing back her blog platform or doing something along those lines" so Meghan might be ready to resume her nonprofit endeavours."
In terms of her husband, Rochelle believes that he'll support Meghan on her solo ventures as well as the ones they do together. "I feel like he is supportive of Meghan, and I feel like if they do something together, I think he'll play his part and show his face, but I think she's the sort of person that can probably do it with her partner and do it separately," she said.
