Job interviews can be a nerve-wracking experience for some, while other people seem to enjoy them. Either way, there are lots of points to consider and prepare for the big day. Researching the company, practicing answers, and most importantly - what to wear to impress the boss. One thing people often neglect to get ready is what to ask the interviewer themselves, and it can be their downfall.

However, one recruiter has shared the three questions she loves to hear from interviewees. TikTok user Clio, a talent scout for a tech company, regularly posts videos full of advice and tips on how to succeed when it comes to getting a new job. In one new clip, she revealed the things the interviewers love to hear from applicants. She said: “Every time candidates ask these questions I always leave the call feeling very confident about them. These are pretty thoughtful questions to ask so be prepared to get some honest answers.”

The first question to ask, according to Clio is: “What qualities do employees at this company typically possess? Second, can you describe the company culture and how does it differ from other companies?” Last but not least, Clio revealed this question was actually her favourite, adding: “It’s great if you want to know what the recruiter thinks about the company.”

She advised asking: “What do you enjoy the most about working for this company? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, interviewing is a two-way street. They’re not only interviewing you but you’re also interviewing them to see if they align with your values and your needs.” Underneath the short but hugely popular video, people rushed to share their own ideas and thank Clio for her help. One person wrote: “Great advice!! It’s always a good idea to have some round-up questions to end the interview on the high!”

Another viewer suggested: “Did I answer all of your questions? Or, Is there anything you want me to explain in more depth?” To which Clio replied, “Love this one!” And someone else added: “Companies don’t tell you if their culture is toxic filled with passive-aggressive employees and microaggressions at times starting with leadership,” but Clio countered with, “But asking the right questions can give you an idea.”
