Mum red-faced as people say cake she baked for son starting uni looks rude
It's always an emotional time when a youngster moves away from home for uni - and one generous mum thought she'd mark the big moment by baking her son a special cake. It was meant as a nice gesture, but she might have ended up regretting it after she realised how rude it appeared to some.
Anyone taking a first look at the cake, a picture of which was shared on Reddit by a friend of the woman, might not realise the problem at first. But it's pretty hard to unsee it once you've noticed that the kind message pasted on the sweet treat - 'GOOD LUCK @ UNI' - could be construed rather differently.
Many who saw the post noticed that the @ symbol looks rather like a C and the 'I' in uni appears like a T. We'll let you figure out the rest for yourselves, but needless to say the picture sparked hilarity on the online forum. One user wrote: "Absolute gold- when you head says 'Good Luck @ Uni', but your heart says 'Get the **** out of my house'." While another said: "Now this is quality content. Maybe say thanks for the photo when they see you next Tuesday!"
A woman claiming to be behind the cake even commented on the post, saying: "It's my cake I made for my son heading off to uni as his grandparents were coming around to say goodbye!!! Genuinely innocent! My friend put it on here without asking and panicked because it's gone crazy!!!"
Another user claiming to be the son added: "Jesus - this was my cake lol, I went on Facebook to see somebody put in my mum's comment section on this photo that it had 'gone viral'. I can assure you that it was purely incidental and she doesn't normally call me a ****..."
