Many restaurants and food chains have been offering parents unmissable deals to feed their children over the summer to help save money, one being the popular chain Toby Carvery. However, one mum was left red-faced after she made a huge error and had to pay more than she'd bargained for.

Like many parents making the most of the summer deals, she took her children for a cheap dinner, making most of their scheme that allowed little ones to eat for just £1 with a voucher you can grab off their app - which expires today (September, 1) but it wasn't quite the deal she was hoping for.

The scheme includes children's mains such as veggie fingers, a chicken burger, mac 'n' cheese, tomato and meatball pasta, as well as three sausages with a Yorkshire pudding as well as unlimited veggies and potatoes from the Carvery deck. According to the website's Ts&Cs, this means 'Upon presentation of a voucher, guests will be able to purchase children's main meals for £1. This will allow up to two children per party to have a main meal for £1 per full-paying adult. This does not include drinks.'

Claire, like many others, wanted to make the most of the brilliant bargain deal and decided to share it with others in the popular money-saving Facebook group - Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group she helpfully wrote: "I've just seen this on the Toby Carvery app. Thought it might come in useful for those with kids and grandkids."

Although, one mum had a stark warning for any parents who considered going. Mum-of-four Stephanie Ng didn't want any other parents to fall into the same trap she did when her children devoured their tasty dinners. She wrote: "Just don't buy drinks - ask for tap water! We made the mistake of asking for drinks a few years ago and added about £20 to the bill.''
