Holly Willoughby's This Morning return date and new co-host confirmed

Holly Willoughby will return to This Morning in just a few days' time.

The TV presenter has been confirmed to be back on the ITV mid-morning show on Monday September 4th, when she will be joined by a brand new co-host. Before the summer, Phillip Schofield departed his long time presenting role on the show after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague.

Holly, meanwhile, has remained in her role as head presenter of the show, but has been on a summer break for the last few months. She has spent her summer holidaying in Portugal with her family but will be back on the show next week.

On today's show, hosts Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes confirmed Holly would be back next week. It was also confirmed she'd be joined by NTA nominee Alison Hammond. Holly is expected to lead the show between Mondays and Thursdays, whilst Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary are also expected to be back in their usual Friday slot.

Holly briefly made a return to This Morning last week, when she appeared in promotional video for Midsomer Murders. Holly was guest starring in the ITV drama and had filmed a behind-the-scenes clip for the ITV daytime show.

In the clip, as she had her hair and make-up done, she said: "Total transparency, it was a scene I hadn't actually noticed in my script because I was so focused on the three lines that I had later. I didn't realise I had to say 'excuse me', so when I walked in and everybody was running their lines. I was like: 'Where is this, in here?' Thankfully, it was only shots of the back of my head! So, so far, so good!"

Holly described her brief acting stint on the show as a "dream come true" and said she had "loved every second".

"This truly was a dream come true… Thank you to the whole team at Midsomer Murders for making me so welcome and really looking after me… I loved every second. Tomorrow there is a behind the scenes look at what we got up to on @thismorning and then Sunday 8pm the episode, The Witches of Angels Rise broadcasts on @itv," she wrote on Instagram.
