TMNT Fortnite skins set to bring the heroes in a half shell to the game
Rumors and leaks are pointing to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles potentially appearing in Fortnite for Chapter 4 Season 4's first big collab.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) are having a shell of a summer, mainly thanks to the Seth Rogen-produced animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem releasing in cinemas. The heroes in a half-shell also appeared in the Street Fighter 6 x TMNT crossover, and have a starring role in the upcoming Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2. Then there's 2022's fantastic beat 'em up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge which got a new DLC expansion this week.
Now, after all of the hysteria about the Squidward Fortnite skin bringing SpongeBob SquarePants to the game; it turns out people may have been looking at the wrong Nickelodeon show, as signs are pointing to a TMNT Fortnite crossover happening during Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 4.
Fortnite leaker @leaksxdefiant posted a thread on Twitter pointing to the mounting evidence of a TMNT Fortnite collab. While not well-known, the thread collects all of the supporting evidence that's also been cite by reputable Twitter accounts, including the Augment info from @iFireMonkey as well as the Fungus Ninja code.
First off an upcoming skin was found in the files with the title 'FungusNinja' which – like we learned with the Anakin Skywalker Star Wars skin being called 'PlotTwist' – sometimes codenames can be very obvious. When Fortnite Chapter 4 first arrived players found a manhole cover in Slappy Shores which made strange noises when it was approached. Now, with Chapter 4 Season 4 there's suddenly a Pizza Shop with arcade machines inside (for those unaware the turtles love video games and pizza, naturally) next to said manhole cover.
Why Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's six week delay is a good thingOther evidence pointing to this collab focuses on Fortnite's Reality Augments – which are perks that you can activate as a match goes on. An upcoming one of these Augments is called 'Ninja Training', while the existing 'Pizza Party' augment is set to return very soon. As @leaksxdefiant points out, Fortnite isn't against unvaulting items and abilities to match skin drops as the Lever Action Shotgun made a return when the Terminator skin arrived during Chapter 4 Season 3.

It'll be interesting to see what iteration of the TMNT Fortnite decides to go with for skins. If past crossovers (like the aforementioned Street Fighter 6 and Nickelodeon All Star Brawl crossovers) are any indication it'll be their 1987 series or 1990 film iterations, but it would be cool if the other variants got some love.
Leakers are claiming that the FungusNinja skin is only one skin, which means we could end up with one TMNT Fortnite skin which has a variant for each turtle, which would be a solid deal – and certainly better than Street Fighter 6 which charges £11 / $15 / AU$24 for each costume.
