Rylan Clark's mother has been rushed to hospital for surgery after suffering a horrific fall on holiday, the TV star has revealed.

The TV and radio star, 34, revealed his mother Linda, who has appeared alongside her son on Gogglebox, has had to undergo emergency surgery.

Rylan and his mum, who turned 71 in July, were on holiday together, which was Linda's "first holiday in a good few years", when the accident happened. She had a "bad fall", which has resulted in her needing surgery.

Former X Factor star Rylan revealed the ordeal in a post on his Instagram and Twitter pages. He shared a statement which read: "So unfortunately I took my mum away on her first holiday in a good few years and sadly she's had quite a bad fall, resulting in her having to have surgery out there.

"She's not in the best health with her other conditions and this has made it more complicated. My priority at the moment is my mum.

A fan added: "Oh no! sending to Mummy Linda for a speedy recovery" with a heart emoji and prayer emojis. While another urged: "Speedy recovery Linda" and a third penned: "hope your mum is soon on the road to recovery."

The X Factor star's mum has faced a string of health battles over the years. She was previously diagnosed with Crohn's disease at the age of 30, which is a chronic inflammation of the intestines and underwent three major operations.

Rylan and Linda took a year off of filming for Celebrity Gogglebox in 2021 as she underwent treatment for Crohn's disease. Following the operations, Linda previously told the Mirror she has just 70cm of her bowel left – where a person usually has 2m – and she was also fitted with a stoma bag. The TV star's son also installed TV monitors around her home to keep a constant watch on her.

Linda candidly told the Mirror of her health in 2022: "I’m not well a lot of the time. I have nurses come round every morning and evening to give me a special feed. I’ve had Crohn’s since I was 30 and used to be in so much pain I’d be crying all the time. It was unbearable – I felt like I wanted to get a knife and punch my stomach open. I’ve had three major bowel operations, and with the last one I got a stoma bag. Now I don’t have pain, which is a relief, but I’ve got to have nutrition put in me. Everything goes straight through where I’ve hardly got any bowel left."

In 2021, Linda was also diagnosed with skin cancer, but was told it was "not life threatening". Rylan explained on his BBC Radio show: "So mummy, and it's all fine, she's got skin cancer on her face, but she's absolutely fine. It's not life-threatening and it's just spread a little bit, so we're getting it all cut away." Linda later underwent a removal of the cancer before having several biopsies to check it was gone.
