The first fight was supposed to be a tough experience for Smith, with him making the step up to middleweight for the fight however he dispatched of his opponent in stunning fashion.

Controversy and bad blood has swirled between the two fighters since the build up to their first fight from their initial news conference making the headlines over comments both fighters made toward one another. Eubank made comments late last year in which he claimed he could beat Smith while 'at 50%' while Smith has since claimed Eubank Jr was "terrified" in their fight when comparing it to their sparring session.

The re-match was meant to happen at an earlier date but Smith suffered an injury in the build-up which led to a prolonged delay. The fight was originally set for June 17 and then July 1 but more time was allocated to allow Smith to get back to full fitness following his injury.
