Romelu Lukaku given brutal home truth after Mauricio Pochettino transfer update

Simon Jordan says Romelu Lukaku is merely "reaping what he sowed" with the forward left stranded at Chelsea due to a lack of transfer options.

The 30-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Inter Milan, has been knocked down to the club's Under 21s alongside Malang Sarr and Callum Hudson-Odoi. Lukaku has also not yet spoken to Mauricio Pochettino over his future and it is understood the Belgian does not want to continue his career at Stamford Bridge.

However, an exit route for the former Manchester United striker could prove difficult. Juventus are prepared to pay £35million for Lukaku, but their bid is conditional on sending Dusan Vlahovic the other way, with the Blues unwilling to take a chance on the Serbian.

This has left Lukaku short of options, with Inter Milan and Al-Hilal also pulling out of the race to sign him. In December 2021, Lukaku's behaviour was questioned after a controversial interview with Sky Italia. During the sit-down chat, he questioned then boss Thomas Tuchel's system, as well as suggesting that he didn't want to leave Inter in the first place.

And Jordan has said he is simply paying the price for that decision two years on. He told talkSPORT: "He's reaped what he sowed, he wants to behave like that then there are consequences. Nobody is bigger than the football club and he opened this can of whoop-a** on himself so he has to get on with it. I have no sympathy for him.

"There was no necessity to do what he did and he now has himself to look at. He is a talented footballer who Chelsea don't want, he is with their Under-23s, and no one else wants him. It is nothing to do with talent, it is everything to do with attitude.

What move should Lukaku make this summer? Let us know in the comments below!

"Look at his attitude at Manchester United, it isn't something that manifested at Chelsea, it is inherent in his outlook. What has he got? A lot of money and no game time. Wonderful. He is an impressive footballer and a smart kid, except when it comes to applying himself and understanding where he fits in."

Lukaku looks almost certain to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, however the Blues could be forced to lower their £35m valuation of the striker, with Pochettino admitting his exile remains in place, despite a raft of injuries to his forwards.

Speaking on Thursday, Pochettino told reporters: "The situation did not change. We will see what happens in the future but at the moment the situation did not change."
