New research reveals the nation’s most common faux pas when it comes to mobile TV streaming in public. With 39% of Brits now streaming TV on-the-go up to four times a week , and a further 37% claiming that it makes their commutes go quicker.

The study revealed that Brits are still prone to a blunder or two when it comes to consuming content in public, and that streaming when out-and-about isn’t as straightforward as many would think.

The new findings, by EE and Samsung, highlight the pitfalls of mobile streaming in public, with nearly half (46%) of Brits claiming that they’ve seen a TV or movie spoiler by taking a sneak peek at someone else’s screen, and nearly a fifth (18%) admitting they’ve previously missed their stop on public transport as they’ve been overly engrossed in one of their favourite shows.

Not only this, but 1 in 5 Brits have even admitted to hastily covering their phone screen out of embarrassment due to watching a questionable scene, with 13% conceding that they’ve been so moved that they’ve have ended up crying in public due to the content they’ve been watching.

According to research, Britain’s top 10 mobile streaming faux pas are:

The research coincides with EE announcing consumers can now order Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones, the new Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5, on the UK’s number one network. Those taking out a handset on an EE All Rounder plan or above will be able to choose between a Netflix Basic or TNT Sports subscription worth up to £480 as an Inclusive Extra.

Customers will be able to make the most of viewing premium content with the Galaxy Z Flip5’s foldable large screen that’s perfect for enjoying TV on-the-move – as well as being able to watch for longer than ever before using the Galaxy Z Fold5’s enhanced battery performance and cooling technology – all supported by the UK’s number one 5G network on EE.

Alistair Wilson, Director of Devices and Partnerships at EE, said: “With superfast 4G and 5G connectivity in more places, watching TV on-the-go has become more popular than ever - and it’s clear that some haven’t quite mastered the etiquette of streaming when they’re out and about.

"With EE offering Netflix and TNT Sport in select plans, we thought it would be worth giving some handy tips to make sure our customers and the nation can enjoy all their favourite content without the mishaps!”
