Jamie Carragher slammed Gary Neville and told him "you haven't got a clue" as the pair traded social media blows on Liverpool's summer transfers.
The Sky Sports duo are famous for their frank exchanges - whether in the Sky Sports studio or online - and they were at it again in light of the Reds seeing another bid for Romeo Lavia rejected. Carragher had already aired his frustration after Southampton turned down their latest approach for the in-demand Belgian midfielder.
They've been linked with the Southampton star for several weeks but have seen their latest offer of £45million rejected with the former Reds captain calling on them to pay up or pursue other targets.
He said: "This is embarrassing. Liverpool for years now have got deals done quickly with no fuss. If you don’t think he’s worth 50M move on, if you really want him pay it. Also not sure why LFC aren’t in for [Moises] Caicedo, yes it’s a lot of money but Liverpool got big money for JH [Jordan Henderson]/FAB [Fabinho]."
Neville was quick to respond, suggesting that Jurgen Klopp's impressive work on Merseyside has covered for the hierarchy's shortcomings in the transfer market, which are now being exposed with the club no longer the recruitment standard they once were.

"Do you now agree that Klopp has shielded your owners for the last 5-6 years?" said the former Manchester United star. His tweet though provoked an angry response from his Sky colleague, who belittled his knowledge of Liverpool and mocked the sums spent by Salford - the club he owns along with his Class of 92 colleagues.
"Gary you haven’t a clue what’s going on at Liverpool!" he claimed. "The owners have a self sustaining model that Klopp bought into & produced miracles! Part of that was a transfer department that was the envy of Europe. That has now gone with Klopp running the club from top to bottom.
"LFC have had three DOF’s in 18 months, the current one who came out of retirement to do the job for this summer, he’s a close contact of the manager. Liverpool’s wage bill is 150M more than Arsenals a season. Just do the Maths. Liverpool don’t have an investor (Peter Lim) like you do at Salford, where you & lads just get on a plane at the end of the season to beg him to spend more money!!"
The pair did make sure to not burn too many bridges before their return to our screens, with Neville quipping back: "Walls are closing in people.. He’s getting tetchy," with Carragher adding: "Another season starts," along with a laughing emoji.
