After using the Stella McCartney Travel Essentials Set for myself, I don't think my basic skincare will compare - sorry bank balance!

Having worked in beauty for over 10 years now, I have been blessed with trying out multiple products and creams, all in the name of research. So when something new lands at my front door, it’s like Christmas - and nothing has made me squeal recently like receiving Stella McCartney’s new sustainable beauty line.

I’ve tried everything from budget to bouji on my face over the years, but when it comes to designer goods, I always need to know if it’s really worth the price point, especially if I'm recommending it to friends and family. Francis Kurkdjian, famous for Baccarat Rouge 540, even developed the scent for this range, called ‘High Cliff’. Now not that my bank balance will want to hear this but, spoiler alert - Stella McCartney is worth every penny - and I'm hooked.

Stella by Stella McCartney launched into the beauty world late last year, and since then, skincare fanatics have been quick to praise the range - and with good reason.

Not wanting to spend too much on a skincare brand I didn't know how my skin would react to, I tried out the Travel Essentials Set, priced at £140. Included inside a little, pastel green eco-designed travel bag, designed by Stella McCartney herself - and made from recycled nylon, you can find the Reset Cleanser (50ml), Alter-Care Serum (20ml) and Restore Cream (20ml).

Using the Reset Cleanser, I really enjoyed the consistency - in my hands and on my face. For a formula that felt slightly thick, it really foamed up with ease and applied nicely to my skin - removing my makeup and SPF with ease, which is usually quite tricky. The best part was, my eyes didn’t sting at all - and I usually have quite sensitive eyes when it comes to cleansers, nor did my skin feel tight or uncomfortable. Naturally I followed with a second cleanse and all traces of the day had been removed - including mascara.

Before bed, I used the Alter-Care Serum, followed by the Restore Cream. Now for a product that has a gorgeous, Francis Kurkdjian scent, it’s fresh and not at all overpowering, and it didn’t make my slightly sensitive skin flare up either - which I was pleased with.

The Alter-Care Serum was smooth and silky, which my face drank up with ease - leaving my skin feel plump and bouncy. Once this had dried down, I followed with the Restore Cream and my face was glowing! It looked really healthy and hydrated too - which is everything I want from a moisturiser before bed.

I must say, when I woke up this morning, my skin looked great. I still felt hydrated and I didn’t look at tired or grey as usual! Should you want to splash your hard-earned cash on one product though, I would say the Alter-Care Serum as I really loved the way my skin felt and looked. You could also try just the refillable pouches of product out, which start from £18 for the cleanser.
