Erling Haaland's dad Alfie mocks Arsenal over post-match Community Shield antics

Alfie Haaland has poked fun at Arsenal after the Gunners lifted the Community Shield with a penalty shootout victory over Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's side came from behind to take the game to penalties at Wembley, as Leandro Trossard's 101st minute deflected strike cancelled out Cole Palmer's second-half effort. Arsenal kept their composure in the shootout with Aaron Ramsdale saving two spot-kicks to earn the Gunners a 4-1 win after a 1-1 draw during normal time.

Following Fabio Viera's winning penalty, the Arsenal players came storming over to the Portuguese and Ramsdale to celebrate with them. Arteta cut a delighted figure on the touchline, whilst the fans inside the stadium were also delirious as the Gunners recorded a rare victory over City.

But Erling Haaland's dad could not help but have a little dig at Arsenal after his son failed to find the net against the Gunners. It was also the second successive season in which the Norway international has failed to score in the Community Shield, after blanking against Liverpool a year ago.

A Twitter account named Troll Football posted an infamous video of Ralph Hasenhuttl celebrating before holding back after Southampton took the lead against Arsenal, with the caption: "Premier League fans after seeing Haaland had a stinker in the Community Shield game but then remember he did the same last season."

However, Alfie Haaland, in typical fashion, decided to quote tweet with a brutal response. He started the post with a winking-face emoji, before saying: "Well done Arsenal, great win. You must be favourites for the league now."

Arsenal missed out on the Premier League title last season, as City ended up winning the top-flight for the third successive year. Pep Guardiola's side finished five points above the Gunners in the end, and City went on to win the FA Cup and the Champions League to complete the treble.

Erling Haaland played a huge role in City's success, scoring 36 Premier League goals in 35 matches, while adding a further 16 in 18 games. City, who had lost the Community Shield in 2021 and 2022 to Leicester and Liverpool, were hoping to add another trophy to the cabinet - but it wasn't to be for them.

Speaking after the match, Guardiola also couldn't help to pop a potential dig at Arsenal. He said: "We lost three [Community Shields] in a row! Do you know why? We won three Premier Leagues!"
