The mercury will finally hit highs of 28C again this week as the summer heatwave heads back to the UK following weeks of torrential rain.
The Met Office has said many will see sun from Wednesday, with Thursday predicted to edge closer to temperatures approaching 30C in the southeast.
A Met Office spokesperson said that from mid-week, a dry and sunny start is likely for many parts of the UK. The best of sunshine will most likely be found in central and eastern parts of the country.
Unfortunately for those in the west and southwestern ares of the country, conditions are expected to be cloudier and wet.
A spokesperson said: "Similar conditions are likely to persist throughout the rest of the period, with high pressure to the east of the UK bringing dry weather to the southeast. However, low pressure system in the northwest is likely to bring wet and rainy conditions to the northwest areas.

The warm weather comes as Storm Antoni wreaked havoc across Britain yesterday with torrential rain and winds gusting at up to 70mph. As the Met Office issued a yellow storm-force warning of danger to life, a deluge of almost 65mm (2.5ins) left cars and businesses submerged in floods in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Residents in nearby villages had to be evacuated.
Events were cancelled across the country, including LooseFest, a two-day festival at Newcastle’s Town Moor starring Sean Paul and Craig David, the annual Dorset jazz festival and the Isle of Wight’s Chale Show. And Bibby Stockholm, an engineless barge due for use by migrants, was battered by the storm at in Portland Harbour.
But the extremes vanished overnight with no weather warnings in place today. Britain can expect a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers, with heavier rainfall restricted to western areas. Winds will be lighter everywhere and temperatures are expected to reach 22C in the south.
This Evening and Tonight:
Strong winds and heavy rain will gradually ease as Storm Antoni clears to the east this evening. Overnight, the winds will continue to ease with clear spells developing. A few showers will persist near coasts.
Sunday:
Bright, with a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of the showers will be on the heavy side, especially across western parts. Much lighter winds for all.
Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:
Largely dry on Monday, with sunny spells. Turning increasingly cloudy on Tuesday, with some patchy rain. Warmer on Wednesday, with the best of the sunshine in the north and east.
