Bubba Watson has admitted he would understand being 'kicked out' of his LIV Golf team after struggling to find his best form on the breakaway circuit.
Watson is one of 12 LIV Golf captains and is therefore exempt from the Saudi-backed league's relegation process at the end of the 2023 campaign. The two-time Masters champion is in charge of the RangeGoats, which includes the man leading the way individually this year, three-time winner Talor Gooch.
Out of the 48 players, Watson finds himself in 36th in the seasonal individual standings, after enduring a tough run in his first full campaign as part of the breakaway league.
In nine tournaments so far this season the American star has broke into the top-10 just once, with his best finish coming in 10th at LIV Tulsa. There is no doubting the talent Watson has shown throughout his impressive career, with his two Masters titles as good as any accolade in the game.
But with the 44-year-old no doubt closer to the end of his career than the start, Watson admitted he is open to the idea of being replaced, if this is what his RangeGoats teammates wanted. Speaking ahead of LIV Greenbrier this week, he said per Golf Monthly : "I told my team if they don’t think I am good enough to play, they can kick me out and we will put another good golfer in my place.

They are all trying to be better and also better at golf. I get to influence three golfers in life, they are all parents and young dads. I want to be there for them and if they have a problem, I want to be able to help them."
Despite his recent struggles, the left-hander has enjoyed the team aspect, and playing with Gooch, Thomas Pieters and Harold Varner III. “Being on a team it helps me and helps them. It is fun for me," he added. "I love playing golf with them and spending time in practice rounds.
"But if they tell me I am not good enough, I will step out and let some other golfer take my place on the team. But right now I am trying to help the Goats get on the podium again.”
