Beyonce's mum breaks silence after singer accused of snubbing Lizzo amid sexual harassment lawsuit

Tina Knowles was forced to set the record straight amid speculation that her daughter Beyoncé snubbed Lizzo while performing the Break My Soul remix.

While performing in Foxborough, Massachusetts, during her sell-out Renaissance Tour, the 41-year-old Crazy in Love hitmaker did not include her usual shout-out to Lizzo. Beyoncé usually sings "Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl (You know you can do it)" and also goes on to give a shout-out to other Black women in music. However, on this occasion, she repeated Badu's name instead of Lizzo's.

Eyebrows were raised as the omission came just hours after three of Lizzo's former dancers filed a lawsuit against the singer, her production company and her dance captain over claims they were weight-shamed and sexually harassed. Since then, other former colleagues also weighed in on the allegations, agreeing with what the star is accused of.

However, amid the reports, Beyoncé's mother, Tina, was quick to dismiss any speculation that her superstar daughter dropped Lizzo's name from her performance as a direct result of the allegations against her.

Tina commented on an Instagram post in which a fan account claimed the changed lyrics were like "hitting 2 birds with 1 stone," with them suggesting that Beyoncé was shading Lizzo as well as Erykah.

Tina wrote: "She also didn't say her own sisters name yal should really stop." This was in reference to her sister Solange Knowles and childhood friend and former Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, who were not given a shoutout in the song either.

The 69-year-old received positive feedback on her comment. "Thank you for setting the record straight Ms. Tina," one fan wrote, while another said: "Say it mama Tina."

The Mirror has contacted Beyonce and Lizzo's representatives for comment. This comes after Lizzo, real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson, was sued on Tuesday in a Los Angeles lawsuit brought by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez.

Together they allege the singer fat-shamed and sexually harassed them while accusing her of religious and racial harassment, discrimination, assault and false imprisonment. The performers, who are suing for damages, also claim Lizzo pressured one of them to touch a nude performer at an Amsterdam club.

Just hours after the 'Good as Hell' singer's former performers filed a US lawsuit against the star, others came forward with further claims. A former dancer who claims she worked with Lizzo, Courtney Hollinquest, has spoken out on social media and confirmed that while she's not part of the lawsuit, she agrees with the things the star is accused of.

Lizzo's former creative director, Quinn Wilson, also agreed with Hollinquest, while filmmaker Sophia Nahli Allison claimed she had to walk away after two weeks when making a documentary of Lizzo after "witnessing how arrogant, self-centred, and unkind she is".

Lizzo has yet to respond to the allegations against her.
