'My neighbour won't stop bouncing balls off our shared wall - I can't sleep'

It feels really blissful when you get on with your neighbours, but if you're not seeing eye to eye, it can be a nightmare. If the people next door were bouncing balls off your shared wall, and denying that they were doing it, how would it make you feel? The likelihood is that you'd be "sick" of the situation really quickly.

One fed-up neighbour admitted that they were "losing sleep on a regular basis" because the people who live next door to them throw "what sounds like a golf ball or rock at the wall or ceiling downstairs", sharing that "many times" they've heard them "laughing afterward."

They took to Reddit's 'Neighbours from Hell' forum to write: "My neighbour will throw what sounds like a golf ball or rock at the wall or ceiling downstairs with varying intensity, sometimes it's quite loud. Many times I'll even hear them laughing afterward. It's been going on for several months and a couple of times I've responded back in defiance but the cycle continues.

"I was able to confront one of the people who live there and they told a bold-faced lie and tried to brush me off quickly but not before contradicting themselves about some of the details. In short, I'm sick of the bulls***. Any good ideas for a response or how to address this here?

"I'm beginning to believe that people who willingly harass their neighbors are also trained liars. It also wouldn't be half as bad if they weren't also trying to disturb my sleep. It's like they're in the bedroom same time as me but they don't ever sleep and on occasion, pull the same c**p or slam walls etc, just enough to make a noise. Losing sleep on a regular basis is a no-go for me, especially when it starts impacting my routine."

In the comments, others experiencing similar things offered up their words of wisdom. One wrote: " It is not true that the neighbour doesn't sleep, my first guess is they are sleeping when you're waking up so start with that. Every morning after they bounce on the ceiling, walk like a herd of elephants on their ceiling while getting ready in the morning. You cant get in trouble for walking loud but they will certainly know you're doing it on purpose. They will likely first escalate their offences at first but continuing to get woken up will convince them that they lose."

Someone else fumed: "I am dealing with this right now with a upstairs neighbor who is harrassing me and laughs afterward. He is for sure a trained liar as he lied to a mediator that I didn't attempt to contact him first which is untrue and lying." They also stated that he was " gleefully bullying me like a high school bully."
