A toddler died after she was crushed by a dresser that toppled over as she tried to climb on it.
Ja’Laya Bryant tragically died at her grandparents' home in South Carolina. She was trying to climb a dresser which toppled over and fell on her causing severe injuries.
Emergency services responded to the scene, but Ja’Laya went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The preliminary investigation suggests she died from asphyxiation, and there's no evidence of foul play.
Her great-aunt pleaded on Facebook for families to secure heavy furniture to prevent similar accidents. Ja’Laya's mother and other friends and family members expressed their grief and received condolences online.
