Emmerdale's Jai Sharma faces more heartache next week after his father Rishi Sharma's death as his new wife, Laurel Thomas, is left in danger due to being kidnapped.
In the upcoming episodes, emotions run high as Laurel and Jai's plans to leave for India are jeopardised by a distraught Archie. Things go from bad to worse when Laurel reveals his son Archie's illness, leading Jai to explode in anger, and the house soon becomes a battlefield for the newlyweds.
Later, Jai's solo journey to India begins as a guilty Laurel is left overthinking at home before Suni shows up to deliver a warning. Having a change of heart and determined to support Jai, Laurel decides to join her new husband in India. However, the drama is far from over, as when Laurel goes to retrieve Marshall’s passport, his father Colin turns nasty and locks her in Marshall's bedroom.

Back in the village, Suni and Nicola worry they haven’t heard from Laurel. While back at Laurel's kidnapping, Colin's unstable behaviour escalates and Laurel tries to escape when she hits Colin over the head and dashes for the door but she’s locked in.
Later, Jai, Nicola and Suni are all very concerned about her absence and Arthur reveals Laurel was meant to pick up Marshall’s passport from Colin’s. Over at the house, an unstable Colin forces Laurel to unlock her phone and he texts Jai in a way which implies Laurel has relapsed as he gets increasingly dangerous.

Things start to look up when a police officer arrives, but Colin's manipulation soon prolongs her ordeal. Worrying for Laurel's safety, Jai and Suni take matters into their own hands in their search for her. But will they find her in time and will Laurel be okay?

As Jai and Laurel celebrated their wedding together with their family and friends, Rishi was not present, having fallen out with his son over lying about who Jai's real father really was.
In an emotional speech, Jai spoke of celebrating absent friends, as he thanked his dad Rishi for always supporting him and vowed to talk to him soon and tell him how much he meant to him. And, in true soap style, the camera then panned to see Rishi lying dead at the bottom of the stairs in a heartbreaking twist with his body later discovered by Jai.
