ChatGPT is finally coming to Android

After months of only being available to iPhone users, ChatGPT is finally coming to Android this week.

ChatGPT creators OpenAI announced the news in a tweet last week, explaining that the app will begin rolling out to users this week.

Like the ChatGPT app on iOS, it will be free to use and give you access to all the standard ChatGPT features including AI-generated chats, advice, and information.

What's more, you can currently 'pre-order' the app on the Google Play Store meaning you'll be one of the first to get your hands on it when it launches.

All you have to do is 'Pre-register' your interest on the Play Store and the app should become available to you once OpenAI begins the roll-out.

There's no word on exactly which day the Android app for ChatGPT will become available, so your best bet is to stay tuned on the OpenAI Twitter page to get the latest updates.

Like the online app, the basic version of ChatGPT is free and there are no limits on how often you can use it, although the responses you receive could be limited.

Since its release to the public in November 2022, ChatGPT has made waves for its ability to generate uncannily human-like conversations and text.

It enables anyone to write questions or prompts to an AI algorithm, which can then generate detailed answers and chatbot-like responses near-instantly.

It's also proved massively controversial due to the tasks it can perform which were previously the domain of humans, such as writing text, programming code, or giving people (unreliable) financial advice.

ChatGPT is even at the centre of the current Hollywood writers' and actors' strike, with workers in the entertainment industry calling for strict rules and restrictions on the use of AI technology in film and TV.
