Scott Parker's tenure at Club Brugge is not going to plan amid increased calls for him to be sacked.

The former Fulham and Bournemouth boss made the surprise move to Belgium at the turn of the year, but has won just one of his nine games in charge with the champions a mammoth 21 points behind league leaders Genk and facing Champions League elimination.

Their latest game - a 2-2 draw with city rivals Cercle Bruges on Sunday - saw fans turn on the team with star man Noa Lang filmed letting rip at his team-mates in English. The 23-year-old Dutchman referred to his colleagues as "f***ing p***ies" whilst also claiming poor performances happen "every f***ing week."

Parker, who is still out to prove himself as a top level coach, confessed after Brugge's latest setback: "We've taken a backward step. A lot of things were unacceptable. We were not good enough on almost every level. We were too soft."

The 42-year-old, whose main success has come in the Championship, made his Champions League bow recently with the Belgian outfit taking on Benfica in the last 16. They lost 2-0 on their own patch making it an uphill struggle ahead of the return leg.

Parker's most recent job in England saw him axed as Bournemouth boss, just weeks into the new top flight season. The Cherries had won promotion, but a lack of investment was a cause of frustration for Parker as he attempted to keep the south coast outfit in the Premier League.

His last match was a humiliating 9-0 defeat to Liverpool but the decision to axe him was in part down to his public call for the club to back him in the transfer market.

Parker said: “I have been clear how this season could look for us and I stick by that. We need to make a decision and try and help this young group who at times are struggling for air. Every one of us needs to make that decision. We have been trying to get more quality in and there are a million reasons why it hasn’t happened.”

After axing Parker, Bournemouth’s Russian-born owner Maxim Demin stated: "In order for us to keep progressing as a team and a club as a whole, it is unconditional that we are aligned in our strategy to run the club sustainably. We must also show belief in and respect for one another.

"That is the approach that has brought this club so much success in recent history, and one that we will not veer from now. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”
