The sensational Wimbledon singles finals are almost upon us and we've been asking Mirror readers who their favourite ever Wimbledon legend is. Now, the results are in!
While Serbian Novak Djokovic and Tunisian’s No 1 Ons Jabeur are among the major stars of this year’s tournament, many players have graced the grass over the years to claim victory. From Boris Becker to Billie Jean King, tennis fans have been spoiled by the sporting greats that have performed on Centre Court.
We gathered a list of the 15 most iconic Wimbledon winners to find out who is the ultimate legend of the lawn, and it was a clean sweep for one star. More than 2,300 readers took part in our poll, and the majority of participants named Roger Federer as their ultimate legend, with the star scooping 28% of votes.

While the Swiss legend retired from the sport in 2022, he bagged himself eight Wimbledon wins and made 12 finals during his 24 year career. In second place, with 13% of votes, is Björn Borg who was the first man to win the Wimbledon singles championship five successive times.
Novak Djokovic won Australian Open despite playing with major hamstring tearJohn McEnroe claimed the third spot with 10% of votes. This comes as no surprise as the American player delivered the most iconic tennis line, ‘You cannot be serious!’, on the Wimbledon grass in 1981.
Britain's Andy Murray landed in fourth place with 9% of votes after taking two Wimbledon titles, and one Olympic win on the famous lawn. Rafael Nadal, who has also won the Championships twice, follows closely behind 8% of votes.
