Pokemon Scarlet and Violet update skips over when classic pokemon are coming

Classic pokemon are still left stranded on the Home app, as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s February update prioritises bugs and fixes.

When Pokemon Scarlet and Violet launched on Nintendo Switch last year, it did so with a bunch of technical hiccups. Perhaps the most criminal of which being an atrocious framerate. Thankfully, then, developer Game Freak has been hard at work dishing out hotfixes and improvements to the games via regular updates.

The latest is version 1.2.0, set to arrive at the end of February as detailed in a new Nintendo blog. But there’s still no word on when players will be able to import classic pokemon into the game via Home app integration.

In fairness, Nintendo of Europe stated in a tweet on November 8, 2022 that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet won’t offer compatibility with Pokemon Home until spring 2023. Technically speaking, that means we shouldn’t expect to see it until at least next month. On the exact same day last year, however, the official Pokemon Scarlet and Violet news site mentioned in a post that Home app integration (and therefore the ability to bring in pokemon from previous generations) was “slated for early 2023”. This led many to question whether we could expect the functionality sooner. Apparently not.

Instead, what players can expect in this forthcoming update was detailed in the patch notes. The main focus is on changes to how Pokemon Boxes work and bug fixes for Tera Raid and Ranked Battles, as well as more general issues like random objects such as pokeballs randomly popping up in certain locations.

The patch notes say “further features and bug fixes not listed” are also planned. It seems we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to hear when Pokemon Home will link with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Until then, here’s the full list of patch notes.
