Finally, some good news!

SAS: Who Dares Wins star Rudy Reyes says shamed former Health Secretary Matt Hancock gets “worked like a freakin’ barbecue rib from my hometown of Kansas City” in the gruelling Celebrity spin off version of the show.

The former US Marine confirms the MP-turned-reality-show-contestant gets put through his paces by the tough SAS squad, who can currently be seen on Channel 4 putting recruits through “Jungle Hell” in the dangerous humidity of Vietnam.

The trip to Southeast Asia for the latest series was the first time Rudy had set foot in Vietnam, where his dad was fighting around the time he was born.

He describes visiting the country as “returning home” as he felt closer to his dad, who came back from war permanently affected by the brutality he encountered, and died while Rudy, 51, was fighting in Afghanistan.

“It was spiritually and emotionally charged,” he describes, of imagining his father fighting there.

One recruit in the current series of SAS: Who Dares Wins was withdrawn from the competition after suffering a seizure in camp, following some brutal challenges.

Asked specifically what Matt’s treatment is like in the upcoming series of the celebrity version, filmed last year, Rudy quips: “Well, let’s say that all the celebrities on the next season get worked like a freakin’ barbecue rib from my hometown of Kansas City.”

The show’s ex-special forces DS Jason “Foxy” Fox has previously joked Matt received especially brutal “special treatment” during his stint, for which he was reportedly paid £45,000.

Filming took place prior to the MP’s appearance on I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, for which his fee was £400,000.
