'My neighbours creep onto my property because they hate the way my garden looks'

One of the perks of owning your own home is having an outdoor space where you're free to do whatever you please - whether you want a luscious lawn or want to pave over the whole thing so it's less hassle to maintain.
But one woman has found that her neighbours don't seem to respect her boundaries, as she's caught them sneaking onto her property without permission, simply because they don't like the look of her garden.
The woman explained she doesn't have the time to mow her lawn regularly and she isn't bothered about leaving her grass to get a little overgrown before she thinks about cutting it back.
Her neighbours, however, seem to believe not having a pristine lawn is a disgrace - and have been trespassing on her property to cut her grass when she isn't home.

In a post on Reddit, she said: "I live in a pretty quiet neighbourhood in a small town. I have never been one for lawn maintenance. My next-door neighbour to the east is obsessed with her lawn. Watering it every day and mowing it once a week, it's always dark green with no weeds. That's fine with me - it's her yard.

"However, I don't believe in wasting water for vanity, nor do I like emissions from lawnmowers (I have an electric one). Have I ever or would I ever say anything about this to her? Nope, because again, it's her lawn.
"I let my lawn get pretty long - mostly from how busy I am. On top of a full-time job half an hour away, I'm a gigging musician and spend several weeknights and weekends out of town. I guess between [my neighbour], the house directly across the street, and my neighbours on the other side, this has become a hot topic and one they discuss between themselves.
"Recently, someone called the city on me over the backyard (which no one can see except for a glimpse from each direct neighbour's driveway). Also, the daughter-in-law of the neighbour to the east has messaged me asking if would I please let her son mow because my yard is 'affecting her mother-in-law's sanity' and has also offered to come help because my neighbours are 'really upset about it'.
"Multiple times this week, someone has come onto my property to mow or move stuff around while I'm at work. They don't talk to me about it first, they don't leave a note, they just do it. Someone also broke some of the pots on my side porch, which I realise may have been an accident, but it's still annoying."
The woman said she understands her neighbours may just be trying to help by mowing her lawn for her, but she doesn't like the fact that they've never asked her for permission first.
She added: "I'd like to think they're being helpful, but I'm almost positive they're doing it for them, not me, and I don't like that they're coming onto my property without asking. I don't want to create a huge rift in the neighbourhood, but it's so annoying.
"I'm not wanting to get antagonistic about it, but I seriously want everyone to stop getting in my stuff."
Commenters on the post were largely on the woman's side, with many saying she should be able to do whatever she likes with her own garden - although others said keeping her grass long was likely to attract "pests".
One person said: "Get cameras and put up no trespassing signs."
While another added: "I wish my neighbours would move my lawn, I have to pay somebody to mow it."

But someone else disagreed, writing: "With all due respect, letting your property become a jungle is a terrible idea. On top of it being ugly, it attracts wild animals looking for cover. First, you get pests and vermin, then you get their predators."
