Emmerdale could be lining up a return for a past villain, as spoilers for next week reveal some big news.

One character on the ITV soap is told a shocking update by the police after a recent robbery that left them devastated.

Mary Goskirk learns that her lying ex Faye, who was hiding her true identity, has been tracked down after doing a runner with Mary's money.

Faye lied about who she was and dated Mary just to get her hands on her savings, before she attacked Mary and fled with the cash.

But Faye has been caught by the police, Mary learns, and she has been arrested and charged by them for her crime.

In a devastating twist though, Faye has denied all of the charges against her.

So could this mean Mary will be forced to face her yet again to make sure she faces punishment?

There's every chance Faye will have to face court after denying the charges, so will this see her return to the show?

It could well mean viewers will see evil Faye once again after her lies were exposed just months ago.

Viewers were convinced the character was hiding something and lying about who she was to girlfriend Mary, and they were right.

Faye's lies began to unravel when Mary's friend Suzy did some digging on Faye, after her suspicious behaviour regarding the cash transfers for a fundraiser.

Mary refused to believe Faye was a scammer, and even handed over some of her own money believing it would prove Faye was innocent.

But in the end Faye cruelly taunted Mary as she finally confessed Suzy was right, and she was just using Mary for her money.

Mary had believed the pair were moving to Ecuador together for a project and possibly to start a new life there, but her dreams all came crashing down as Faye confessed all.

As Faye was confronted, she stole Mary's cash and shoved her and sent her falling to the ground.

Mary was unconscious after hitting her head, but Faye cruelly walked away laughing. Thankfully Mary was found and was okay, but the character was heartbroken to realise Faye had fled with all of her money - so how will she react to hearing about her again?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
